What's new: Happy Lemon is finally in BC!

Tired of your usual milk tea? As much as I don't want this post to sound like a promotion, I highly encourage you to try the new bubble tea bad ass in town: Happy Lemon. Let me tell you why.

It's no surprise that Happy Lemon built one of its branches in Richmond, BC. After all, a big chunk of the city's demographics is consist of the Chinese population and most likely well-acquainted with the brand which originated from Shanghai, China.

Back in the Philippines, Happy Lemon is one of the most popular milk tea brand and my personal favourite. It stands out among the competition in the bubble tea industry because of its unique concoction of flavours. Their tea variants with cheese and rock salt are bestsellers. At first, you may wonder if cheese, tea, and salt blend together well. You will be surprised once you tried as I did. I remember the first time my boyfriend took me to one of its stalls in Makati, Metro Manila. I ordered the signature Happy Lemon green tea with rock salt and cheese. I recall asking the server for a giant straw but she refused to give me one. Instead, she suggested that I sip straight from the cup. I did as I told and boy, she was right. By drinking from the cup, I was able to gulp the perfect blend of frothy salted cheese and a biting bitterness of the cold green tea. It was amazing. Happy Lemon has been an addictive habit since then. Like Starbuck for coffeeholics, I need to get my Happy Lemon fix to get through a tough week.

I've tried other Happy Lemon flavours too like the milk tea with pudding and lemon tea with frozen Yakult. Those variants are equally interesting but not at par with my salted cheese favourites.

Fast forward to when I moved to Canada in 2015, I found out that there's no Happy Lemon yet. I planned to save up and bring the franchise here because I'm confident that it will be a hit. Apparently, someone thinks the same too and has the resources to do it sooner. I was a bit disappointed but nonetheless happy that finally, my favourite milk tea is now a few minutes away from home whenever I'm craving for some salted green tea goodness.
